How does one build self-confidence in themselves and others? Well, the first and most important thing you should tell yourself or anyone else who is suffering from low self-esteem is that the self-confidence is mental; it is all in your mind! Self-confidence is all about how you perceive yourself and the best way to boost self-confidence is to change the way you think about yourself. Maintain a positive self-image. This may be easier said than done especially if you feel there is nothing positive to maintain.This/tag helps explain it more. That is a falsehood and you have already been defeated in your mind. Every person has a positive, redeeming quality. No matter if it is a talent or a physical attribute, we all have something that we are good at. It is important to tap into that and a good way to do it is write a list of those qualities. If you are having a hard time with that task (we can be our harshest critics sometimes) ask a friend. You may be surprised at how others regard you. If that friend does not have anything positive to say then you may want to rethink that friendship. Tape this list to your mirror or your refrigerator or write it in a journal. Just put it any place where you will see it and often. Re-affirm how wonderful you are as an individual and continue this positive self-talk until you truly believe it. You can mask true self-confidence with clothes, degrees, cars, and jobs and these things may temporarily make you feel good about what yourself, but your feelings about yourself would be tied to a physical item that can be taken away. If you feel good about yourself and it comes from within, any external trappings would only be the proverbial cherry on top.
